Your Training NeedsThe National Response Framework (NRF), and its component National Incident Management System (NIMS) provide core guidance for an “All-Hazard, All-Agency” approach to emergency response operations. This operational plan extends far beyond the traditional first responder and public safety response model. All elements of the global response community are expected to be aware of their role in the post-event, post-disaster environment.

EPA Regions have added NIMS compliance as a qualifying factor for future disaster-relief funding for ERRS and START program contractors, as illustrated in this excerpt from a recent EPA ERRS contract RFP.
Under this requirement certain Supervisory and key personnel within your organization must be NIMS compliant. Since NIMS applies to all “responders”, the requirements for compliance is expected to spread throughout the federal bureaucracy. ALL disaster-relief funding is tied to NIMS compliance requirements. Don’t risk the loss of a multimillion dollar contract for lack of a few days of training for your critical personnel. |

The Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) program was developed through a Federally funded National Work Group by members of the HEICS IV Project Organization.
HICS is intended to be used by all hospitals, regardless of their size or patient care capabilities, and to assist with their emergency planning and response efforts for all hazards. By embracing the concepts and incident command design outlined in HICS, a hospital is positioned to be consistent with National Incident Management System incident command design guidelines and to participate in a system that promotes greater national standardization in terminology, response concepts, and procedures. |
